Driving and operations
Course Description:
A class for engineers taught by engineers.
This two-day course is designed specifically for chauffeurs, engineers, drivers and operators of the pumper truck. Day one will start in the class room with a short lecture on safe driving practices. The rest of the day will be spent on the drill ground learning the basics of what every pumper engineer should know: water supply. Spotting a hydrant, catching a hydrant, getting water into your pump and delivered to where ever it needs to go. We’ll be using multiple pumpers with multiple water sources. We’ll be backing up an attack pumper (Getting Into The System) and relay pumping. We will be hand jacking LDH. A lot of it. We will do it all as a single engineer, and as a team before cavitation.
Day two will be a review of the techniques learned on day one. Then we will move into scenario based challenges where the engineer (or engineers) will learn problem solving on the fly, securing a water supply against a clock, and delivering water to a fire attack team before
