Tactical Decision Making Under Stress
Course Description:
The class is a company officer to battalion chief level class, focusing on tactical decisions on emergency scenes, understanding physiological effects of stress on decision making, running scenarios with stress inoculation. This class will be broken into some lecture and practical applications of tactical decision making. Half day classroom with half day on fire ground. Scenarios will be designed based on each member’s response mode and department size. Each student will be asked to submit a response mode and resource list to include mutual aid.
Biography:

Battalion Chief Chris Stufft has been an officer for the past 7 years, the last two as Aurora Fire Rescue Battalion Chief. Experience over 15 years of teaching experience from entry level firefighter level to provide assessment center training for company officers for past 5 years. Member of Academy staff, Incumbent Training Division, Hazmat Team and Technical Rescue Team Captain.
Hunter Hackbarth is currently serving in the position of Assistant Fire Chief with Aurora Fire Rescue. He started his fire service career in 1990 with the Richfield (Minnesota) Fire Department and then made a lateral move to Aurora Fire Rescue in 1995 and has served in the ranks of firefighter, fire investigator, lieutenant, captain, battalion chief and division chief (Operations, Training, Life Safety).
