Firefighter Rescue Survey: From the Survey to the Streets

Course Description:

We’ll take a deep dive into the “First 5,000” rescues recorded by the Firefighter Rescue Survey and explore how to turn that data into actionable street-level performance. This session examines the mindset, size-up, search and rescue operations, prevention and EMS considerations, common training scars, fear factors, and more. We’ll highlight the metrics that shape our decision-making and reinforce our mission of saving lives.

Biography:

Jeff Bryant’s fire service career began in 2007 when he joined his small town volunteer fire department as a third-generation firefighter. He served a couple suburban fire departments until 2014 when he was hired by the Aurora (IL) Fire Department. He is currently assigned to 2nd shift as a Lieutenant on Engine 5.

Bryant’s true passion lies in training and cultivating the next generation of firefighters. He’s an multi-faceted instructor blessed to be part of Southern Kane County Training Association (2015), Illinois FireNuggets (2018), Firefighter Rescue Survey (2019), Brothers in Battle (2022), and more. He has been behind some truly passionate events including West Coast Truck Academy, FireNuggets Search School, Midwest Area Fire Academy, Virtual Truck / Search Academy, and Firemanship. 

As of January 2024, Bryant has been selected by the board to serve as the President for FireNuggets, a fire service training organization.

Behind Bryant is his very supportive wife, Ashley, and three pretty cool children – Everly, Emmy, and Brody.
